Oh man, right off the bat the Fit hits the SHan!
Interesting stuff. I actually feel bad for Hermione, I really don't think she would have gone along with this without a lot of mind-meddeling or compulsion charms from Bumbledore. I like Harry's solution to the wards and admission of his virginity. Poor Hermione isn't going to recognise him so it wouldnt even be like sleeping with an old friend. I wonder about a demon-bone charging setup to replace whatever is powering the blood wards would work. Loving it!

Picky point, I'm sure, but it was Ron that polished the award. Harry was stuck helping Lockhart answer his fan mai.l (occurred in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)

Amusing. So what will become of Dumbledore's little whore?

Heh, I wonder how Voldemort was able to corrupt Dippet's portrait? Special Services Award is a new one for the Horcrux, and makes me wonder why nobody ever had it as one before? It's classic Voldemort.

Scene with Dumbledore and Hermione was great. Originally it really pissed me off, but then I was laughing my ass off at Hermione's mortification. Lupin came off as more of a drone with little personality, so if that's what you were going for, I commend you.

Good stuff, I'll be reading the rest now! :)

JBern replied:

It was pretty easy.   Voldemort was the painter of Dippet's portrait.   I actually told several people what I was using for that mystery Horcrux in advance of Deathly Hallows, because I feared JKR would use it.   My fears were obviously baseless.

Lupin is a tool of the man in this story.   Was the exlpanation of Dumbledore's scheme worth the long wait to discover and most importantly did it make sense?~Jim

This is quite a busy chapter. Harry has announced his return to Hogwarts. He has confronted Hermione and Dumbledore to discover that Dumbledore has tied his hands again. What a mess. Now Voldemort knows that Dumbledore and Harry know where one of his horcuxes are. And the race is on. I look forward to the next chapter. pms

JBern replied:

As you can see, it's catch up on replies weekend here now that Darkness is just about wrapped.   Next chapter of this one is coming soon, but I need to put out a chapter of Lie first.~Jim

CURCIO!!!

Apart from that, well done for now.

Well, I'd love to be already done with this story too, but the darn thing won't write itself!   Anyway, I'm working on chapter 3 this week and it should be done soon.~Jim

LOL at Fleur getting Bill where she wants him and more so at saying there's a troll and pointing at Hack. "Barely legal is still legal" was also very funny as was Hermy Funbags deflating somewhat. Excellent chapter, as you already know, though I find the ending frustrating as always. More please. Great reasoning.

JBern replied:

Sorrygotta keep those cliffhangers coming.   Chapter 3 coming soon.~Jim

i am liking your stories more and more as i read them.

now that you landed Harry in some deep shit, what next? i personally vote for giving 'funbags' for a ride to Hack and then obliviating her. better if its done through 'back door'....... at the very least give all traitors hell. don't make Harry a pussy after that amazing bungle......

JBern replied:

I think you'll be pleased by chapter 3, coming soon.~Jim

You are a genius. When I think about it, the award is perfect. I am so looking forward to this story.

JBern replied:

It was one of my guesses for what would be a horcrux.   I didn't think JKR would be foolish enough to allow Voldemort to know about the Room of Requirement - and yet she did.

Which reminds me, Draco spent almost a full year in there and somehow never once just wished for a passage straight to Hogsmeade or Borgin and Burkes?   Apparently, he never needed to fix the thing in the first place!   She created a wonderful universe and I love to play in it, but the continuity errors boggle my mind.

Anyway, next chapter of this one coming soon.~Jim

While a very clever idea for letting DD screw Harry yet again, you could have at least had a conversation with Luna before springing this one!

Unless the idea is that Harry and Bill can break the oath or shift the wards or something, this is going to be a teeth-gritting annoyance.

However, if I had to guess, I'd bet that you're shooting for the 'unless you are for some reason forced out' escape clause.

Still, it's a good chapter. Thanks for sharing it with us.

JBern replied:

Action and intrigue take center stage in chapter 3.   We'll discuss oaths and wards in chapter 4.   Much to do and all that!   Thanks as always for the review.~Jim

I truly love this two part story the most, your other story TFCD is a good read and I'm most interested in how it ends, but this story deserves the MOST attention!!!! :D

JBern replied:

I agree, but I need to finish TFtCD and close that chapter on my works of fanfiction.   Still, chapter 3 of this one coming soon.~Jim

Hermione screwed Harry over and now it looks like the shoe is on the other foot. The fun bit is that because of the oath, Harry has to do his 'best' which means that sex is on the menu, dating just won't do, because the amount of emotional energy won't be nearly as much as a good shag session. I wonder if she'll earn that 'Head Girl' badge.

Can you imagine how Ron will react? *snicker*

JBern replied:

Well, we haven't got around to Ron just yet.   What is his story anyway?~Jim

From reading the other reviews I guess I'm the only one that liked how Dumbledore manipulated Harry. In most of the political Harry stories, he just suddenly starts cutting deals and dancing rings around people vastly more experienced than he is. I think you did good in how you depicted Harry, he was a bit over confidant after his successes and really needed a good reminder that he's a very young predator, and surrounded by others vastly more experienced.

Dumbledore was playing political games long before Harry's parents were even born, so I found it a pleasant surprise when, even with Kwan and Bill looking over the wording of the oath, he still was able to get Harry to dance to his tune. I doubt very much that Dumbledore will be replaced any time soon, if and when he's forced out, it will be because it suits his plans.

JBern replied:

Glad you liked it.   In so many stories, Harry tries to say, "I'm nothing to you but a weapon."   Dumbledore fiercely denies it and so forth.   Dumbledore isn't really going to deny it here.   He likes Harry and hopes for the best out of him, but stopping Voldemort is his primary goal and he truly believes he is doing what is best.

You are correct that Harry needs to be taken down a peg every now and then.   Otherwise this becomes just a super powerful unstoppable Harry fic.

Regards,

Jim

w00t!

This was the perfect gift for me to receive coming off the the Mids to Days switch.

Shorter than I'd like but it did bring up some very interesting points that will prove interesting in the future.
