No... you didn't kill Bill... actually, scratch that, you probably did. Well, not happy about that development, but a) I'm not certain he's really dead and b) it's not THAT big a deal.
Anyway, good chapter. Now that Harry is in on the secret, there's no reason for him not to retreat to civilization to restock, resupply, and recruit more help. Is there? Sounds too easy, actually.
JBern replied:
Oh there might be a reason or two...I even foreshadowed it with Hack's song choice.
I've altered my update schedule to do chapter 21 of this one immediately. It's not really fair for me to leave all you readers twisting in the wind on this one. I should have it ready by the end of the week. Glad you enjoy it so much. Thanks for the review.~Jim

I really like the line about tomb raiding vs grave robbing. :-)
Harry's rant at DD via journal feels a little tired by this point, but then, so's Harry.
Statue de Soto is kinda freaky, but apparently quite helpful.
Daemon? Ooooh, that sounds bad...
Bill's dead? Oh man, that sucks.

Thanks for the compliment on Tomb Raiding vs Grave Robbing. It made a lot of sense when I wrote it.

I'm sorry to say that while killing Bill is a big turn in the story and I guess a suprise, personally It takes something away from the story. Harry has just been betrayed by everyone he cares about back home and now he has lost the only person besides Fleur who was in his corner. Bill was someone he could talk to and not worry about their motivations behind helping him. I guess I can see how it advances your story making Harry have to deal with everything on his own. But again killing off a character that makes "Bungle in the Jungle" what it is doesn't seem right. That is not to say that I didn't enjoy the chapter, I did the ideas you introduced with regards to possession and the statue are interesting, just killing Bill makes me think of you other story which is pretty well a kill fest. I will be interested to see how Harry will be able to survive upon his return, because he has lost his whole support system, Fleur is not going to be any help and Luna hates him at the moment and finally he has pretty well disowned Dumbledore, Remus, Hermione and the Weasleys. To me it seems like there is little point of him returning besides to tell Fleur how he Bill died. Anyways I will be interested to see how the rest of the story turns out but I will says this, I really wish you didn't kill bill.
P.S. Keep up the great writing.

Gaaahhhh...a horrible cliffy.
Is Bill dead? Does harry get Fleur? Can Harry have Fleur and Gabby?
Harry has to get past a Daemon?
JBern replied:
To get Fleur and Gabby would you fight a Daemon? :-)

Fantastic chapter. Cruel cliffie.
The letter to Dumbledore was delightfully sharp. Multiple face slaps in one missive. I want to see the responses from the Order and Luna once they get back to an area of receptivity. Hope springs eternal for the hopeless romantic.
Just a gripping tale!

Holy Cow! I can't believe you killed him! I know his death would have the greatest impact on Harry, but I figured he was safe for a while longer, to serve as friend and mentor. I'm wondering if he's really dead though-there's hasn't been any here-is-the-dead-body confirmation. Perhaps the curse works differently on transfigured targets? Perhaps the villain's abilities are fading with his undead, possessed state? I hold out hope. Great chapter-really looking forward to more new threats.
