GAHHHHH!

Great chapter. Excellent place for a cliffhanger.

See it's nice to see people who can appreciate a well placed cliffhanger without resorting to calling me names.~Jim

Now that is one hell of a cliff hanger. Thats OK, I even enjoy them. If we ´re not left hanging to long. Excellent chapter through and through.

JBern replied:

With Dead Eye in editing, I don't forsee any long breaks in updates during the summer.   Glad you can appreaciate a well delivered cliffhanger.~Jim

Yes it got the blood pounding. Excellent task! The wizarding world is crazy, subjecting people to that for sport, but I'd already decided that the wizarding world (as created by JKR) _is_ crazy.

Great chapter! Really looking forward to the conclusion of this contest.

I suddenly had a bad thought.... Since Hagrid had to be imperioused by someone who knew what was coming and set up the unlatcher, when the "crazed giant" is stopped, the person who put the imperious on him may just kill him to cover the crime. I like Hagrid!

Interesting thought process.   Thanks for stopping by and reviewing as always.   I promised to have chapter 14 out by June 30th so, I'll be working on TML and Lie to make certain I deliver.

The WW is crazy, after all, they put 11-12 yr olds on a broom and let people smack large balls at them for sport.

I think you'll be pleased at what is coming.   If it translates to keyboard as well as it is in my head, it should be very good.   You'll have to let me know how I do.~Jim

SODDING HELL! Now that's a cliffhanger.

HAHAHA! What a dirty ending! Great chapter full of surprises. Absolutely loved him and the headgirl and the dementors were a treat. Keep up the good work and update soon. need...more...chapters....

JBern replied:

I thought it was a nice clean spot to break the chapter at.   Nothing dirty about it at all, nosiree.

Thanks for the review.~Jim

That cliffhanger is the worse I have seen in a long time! But I still love it, great chapter my favorite part is actually the end, it leaves a lot to the imagination! Great Job and i can't wait for the next update!

JBern replied:

Well as long as I can deliver a quality cliffhanger that's what counts.   Glad you enjoyed the chapter and I hope to continue impressing you.~Jim

I like it but at the end I didn't agree with what Hagrid did... I can't get the motive for him to have done that... i don't recall if him and HJ had any disagreements

the cliffie sucks and I am looking forward to Hj finally winning a challenge and now without a wand things are about to get messy, especially because most of the other champions are incapacitated and can't react...

I liked that he finally got some, and his interaction with Sirius, also Ron did a nice apology scene...

I liked it and I want the next part soon!
as soon as possible please, this is my favorite of your stories at the moment!

JBern replied:

Well, something definitely got Hagrid to do that ... more on that next chapter.

Cliffies don't suck!   They're great!   I'm already starting on TML 7 and I fully plan to keep to my promise that you'll see Lie 14 before June 30th.

Wow! Quite a chapter. It seems Harry is growing up fast! His talk with Sirius probably helped him to move along with the head girl. At least he doesn't want a long time relationship with her. She might feel different. Hermione did pretty well in her task. She is a lot younger that her competitors. The dementor contest was cruel and not well protected. Of course Hagrid is not someone you would expect to sabotage a contest especially with Harry in it. Quite the cliffhanger you left us with. I look forward to the next chapter. I also look forward to the Turn Me Loose 7 update. Thanks for writing. These are both great stories. pms

JBern replied:

Try telling Hermione she did well...

It's always the person you least expect.   Glad you enjoyed the chapter.   I'm moving on to TML 7 now, but I did promise another chapter of this one before the end of June.

The Dementors?   They were locked in a cage, with 12 Aurors, the head of the DMLE and the Headmasters/Headmistress of three of the most prestigous schools in Europe less than thirty feet away....What could be safer?

Thanks for the review.~Jim

Can't wait for the next installment.

Thanks.   Glad you enjoyed it.   TML 7 is up next, but I'll be back to this one shortly.~Jim

Thanks for the review.   At least you didn't call me a bad name...

Perfect title for this chapter! Glad to see HJ finally get some. I wonder how he's going to get out of this without resorting to changing into Pronghorn. The next chapter is eagerly anticipated.

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   Glad I got your anticipation up.~Jim

Thank yoü for the update.
Great chapter but evil nasty cliffhanger - grrr...

JBern replied:

But it was the perfect spot from a writing standpoint to end that chapter?   Sorry, it's difficult to stop cackling like a madman.   Glad you enjoyed it.   Stay tuned.   TML 7 is coming soon and then I'll be right back to this one.~Jim

Yahoo! I love the cliffy at the end! Very happy that HJ got some in this chapter, and this challenge with the dementors is wicked. As always, thanks for the update.

JBern replied:

Thanks.   You're the first person I've ever seen that's happy about a cliffy.   The next update will take much less time than this one took.~Jim

i love your stories but at the moment i quite hate you for stopping there

Update soon or i shall get evil

*cackles insanely as he strokes his bag o' critters and stares as Jbern*

JBern replied:

But it was such a good stopping point and if I wrote the rest of the battle what would I start the next chapter with?   :-)

Thanks for the review.~Jim

Hagrid and his Free the Giants seemed to come out of left field, but otherwise, smashing chapter!

JBern replied:

It does seem out of left field doesn't it...

Thanks for reviewing.~Jim

Killedbykarma posted a comment on Wednesday 11th June 2008 6:36am for Caged Fear

That is a right nasty cliffy there.
And a rematch with something that almost killed you once before without any weapon. Well that's not good.
And Hagrid? He Imperiused or something?

JBern replied:

Imperiused?   Polyjuiced?   Something?

Probably.   Glad you enjoyed the chapter.   Hope I continue to impress you.~Jim

Mr. Bernheimer:

After three months you leave us with a life and death cliffhanger. A CLIFFHANGER? You BASTARD! You misanthropic sadistic utter bastard!

AAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!

Other than that, excellent chapter. Your first person skills (coupled with the efforts of your "betas" of course) has continue to improve.

While you've proved you can write a baudy Sorting Hat song (after letting us down so many months ago), I'm surprised your own duodenum failed to rise from your guts and strangle you to protect us from this prose-like endeavor. <shudder!> I'm sorry I ever teased you about your fall-through back in that earlier chapter so long ago. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll never do it again, boss.

Lots of subplots and good character development. Good to finally have Sirius make an appearance again.

I could continue, but I'm in the middle of writing a report and need to get back to work. Damn good chapter overall.

Never fear, this story is quite memorable.

-Doug

JBern replied:

I don't even remember letting you down.   If I had time, I'd go back and see what you were talking about.

After such a long break, I thought the best way to get people back into the story was with a dramatic scene which you just happen to call a cliffhanger.   The early reviews seem to indicate that I will be chastized by the readers for this decision...

Please excuse me whilst I go cackle madly.   :-)

Jim

You fucker .... how can you do this to your loyal readers?

Another excellent chapter :)

JBern replied:

Well, you only hurt the ones you love????

What better way to get the reader's appetitte back for my story than a nice tasty cliff hanger?

Don't worry, the break won't be near as long.~Jim

Wow. Good (Bagging the Head Girl!) to Bad (Possessed Hagrid and DEMENTORS!). Very interesting. I will be looking forward to seeing how you get him out of this.

Sirus' rehabilitation is awesome and I have no idea what Harry is thinking about when it comes to solving the puzzle.

I also like the Weasley subplot. You seem to keep that pretty fresh and it is a good break to the tournament stuff.

JBern replied:

Glad you liked it.   To quote a famous rock song, "You ain't seen nothing yet!"

Stay tuned, because the best is yet to come...
