That was a masterful story with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing (especially on the pairing).
I feel like you might have included a bit too much swearing, but it added a particular flavor to your fic, and I will defer to the author in taste.
Overall, a 9/10. I loved your story and hope you will continue this level of quality.

Nooooo! I had forgotten how much I needed a sequel and now I find myself waiting for it again. I hope you get into it soon.
Congratulations again on such a great story.

I know this was finished some time ago, and I have no idea if you get alerts when someone reviews, but I'll do it anyway.
I've read this before, and I'll probably read it again, it's one of my favorite HP Fanfictions out there. Thank you for writing it and I'm looking forward to a sequel if you ever have the time for it.
Thanks to the strength of your Fanfictions I've bought all of your novels/collections, enjoyed them, and will continue to do so in the future.

I've red hundreds of HP stories and this is one of the best.
The use of 1st person POV adds to the dynamism, just like the use of 2nd does in Bungle in the Jungle and Turn Me Loose. Not many authors can pull this off.
I think that a 3 task tournament is a very boring one and it doesn't offer much in order to really decide who is the best champion, so more tasks is clearly better.
I don't care much about pairings, JKR has some strange ideas about romance and that's enough said. So I enjoy any kind of romantic interest for Harry as long as it's well written and logical as long as it's female[s]. Fleur does have quite a few things in her favor when it comes to find some common ground with Harry, but given the fact that most females beside Hermione aren't developed enough it's easy to create a good match for our hero.
The one thing I find a bit hard to believe is the Remus-Lily thing. I think there are much more plausible reasons for Remus to be absent from Harry's life before the 3rd year.
This story really begs for a sequel and I know Jim is thinking or already working on one, but it's hard not to hope for him to start posting it asap.

I enjoyed the story, and kind of wish there was a sequel.

Another great story you've written here Jbern. I was a big fan of your other story ,To Fight the Coming Darkness, and in my opinion, The Lie I've Lived is much better. I can't wait to read the sequels to both stories (If there will be a sequel to the former) and I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter of The Inner Eye of Harry Potter.
I couldn't catch a single misspelled word in this story, great job!
Please update soon,

I honestly have to say that this is without a doubt the best fanfic of Harry Potter I've ever read.

This was wonderful! You've really outdone yourself here. I had read To Fight The Coming Darkness which was excellent, but this takes the prize! Please continue with this AU when you have the time.

You know, this is late fridge logic on my part, but it just struck me that this Voldemort doesn't have the immunity to HJP's blood protection that the canon one does.
Should make those final clashes fun.

I just finished reading this one for the 2nd time and fell in love with it all over again.
The concept of Harry with his father's memories is unique to me and worked out perfectly, but the best feature of this story is your "Hat". I don't think I have ever laughed so hard while reading.
Simply genius! And I really hope that you write a sequel to this in the future, despite your endeavor in writing for money.

Wow, Jim, a very entertaining story! I really enjoyed it. The editor in me wants to point out that the term is "free rein" as in the kind of reins used on a horse. Giving the horse free rein means he's going at his own speed in his own direction and the rider is trusting him to it. "Reign" means the kind of ruling a monarch does, and it's never "free."
I liked your Harry/James/HJ concept. It's unique in my experience, and led to some interesting situations. I'm sorry poor Remus had to die, and I'm shocked Lily cheated on James, but that relationship with her explains why he seemed to revere her memory even more than James's in a way.
If you get odd reviews from me at times, I'm doing most of my fanfic reading on my phone and it isn't always easy to leave reviews with it. Hope your book sales are going well! My second Star Sons novel will be coming out in the next couple of months.
Keep up the good work!
Abraxan

your a great author, to say the least. you write such masterpieces. I am very interested to see how you would continue this story, but I know that you have real life to deal with, stories to sell and put food on the table with, and the other stories unfinished. but honestly, take your time. someone like you should know by know that you simply can't rush perfection. please, contact me if you wish to talk.
