This story is rather amazing. I've been reading your other stories but somehow managed to overlook this. I really like it, and hope to see more of this story written.

JBern replied:

I'm almost ready to pick this one back up again.   Look for it within the next 4 weeks.~Jim

Really liking this story so far.
One thing I cant wait for is your version of the Tournament, the tournament in GoF always kinda irked me with the spectators when only one of the three tasks were actually veiwable by the crowd.

JBern replied:

If it comes off as I have planned, it should be pretty impressive.   Sorry for the delay in replying, things have been a bit on the busy side around here.   Look for a new chapter coming soon!~Jim

Hilarious at some point! I think you can let teens read this story too because bnesides a few bad words, there weren't anything serious. Just wondering, why doesn't harry tell hermione and ron about the part of james potter that is in him?

JBern replied:

Thanks.   I'll stick to the mature rating though.   It gives me more flexibility.   HJ doesn't tell Hermione because she'll want him to get examined and such.   She'll want him to tell DD and that would mean letting DD know that HJ knows the prophecy.   From his perspective, telling Hermione wouldn'due squat for him right now.   He's playing his cards close to the chest.

Anyway, new chapter coming soon.   Can't be more specific than that.~Jim

Very nice I like the way youve captured the downside to this its not all roses and easy going. Im very much looking forward to the next part

JBern replied:

As it shouldn't be all roses.   Could you imagine having the mind of a twenty something and being stuck with teenagers all the time?   It would be very depressing.   Next chapter is coming soon.   I have some other projects on my plate at the moment, but I'll be back to this soon.~Jim

give harry a lay already....... there is only so much a teenager can tolerate before they lose it...

otherwise nice going ..... love your new outlook of things... update as soon as you can.....

JBern replied:

It's sad that HJ is a man whore who can't get any action.   A shame isn't it? Next chapter coming soon.~Jim

i loved your subtle Beatles reference there at the end. keep it up! this and turn me loose and bungle in the jungle? pure gold.

I just finished what you have so far, and it's absolutely wonderful!

There's occasional issues with punctuation, mostly comma/period and apostrophe errors, but they aren't too bad.

Your structure of the story is marvelous, and you've mastered the first-person perspective, which is quite challenging.

You're also writing brilliant dialog and keeping a consistent mood going. I especially like the sense of wry amusement that comes through no matter how serious or comic the events of the story are from moment to moment.

I'm eager for more!

JBern replied:

Thanks for the compliments.   I really enjoy writing in first person. I just posted chapter 1 of the sequel to my 2nd person story, so once again, I will be attempting to juggle stories written in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person at the same time.   I hope my betas will keep me honest.

I hope this story continues to impress you.~Jim

i enjoyed the chapter, but it did set me on edge a bit. normally i like the twins, but in this story, i can't wait for them to cop a hiding. i really hope HJ goes marauder on them.

it was interesting to see the main character being alienated by all the usual suspects. im looking forward to seeing who will be his other alies as the story progresses.

i have to say, i love the hat. it has my sense of humour. its got a serious sewer mind and only occaisionaly rised to gutter level. LOVE IT! the more of this style of humour, the better.

i liked the training that went on, it sets the basis for some serious action coming up. would be interesting to see if he could actually kill the dragon in the first task. its something that rarely happens but would certainly put many in their place.

looking forward to the next chappy as well as bungles sequel
cheers

JBern replied:

It's a good bet that the Twins will push HJ too far in this story.   Events of the tournament will be substantially different than the original three tasks are there, but there are also many other tasks.   I hope you continue to enjoy.

OK now I need another update. It's not nice ending it there... then again anywhere you ended it wouldn't be nice. I love you Hat's attitude. Can't wait for more!

Rob

ps. Write more quick so you can get to the sequal for Bungle in the Jungle this story is good to but I loved Bungle

JBern replied:

Chapter 1 of the sequel to bungle will be posted this weekend.   I'm glad you enjoyed this story as well.

Your stories always have the most delightful gritty edge to them, and this chapter is no exception. Thanks so much for another great read!

JBern replied:

I'm glad you find that enjoyable.   I hope to continue oppressing you in the future.

Good work. Harry/James is having some trouble. Ironically, he would have been better off letting everyone think he was gay.

JBern replied:

Oddly enough I think you're correct.   I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

Great chapter, I really liked it!!
I loved the infermary HJ, plus all the prnaks people tried to play. I want to see HJ getting fed up with the twins and teaching them how a marauder pranks ;)
HAha anyway please update soon

JBern replied:

Infirmary scene was one of my favorites from this chapter.   Odds are that the Twins will push HJ just a little too far in this story.

Yes! I read Bungle in the Jungle in a weekend. I was disappointed you hadn't already started on the sequel. So looking forward to it! ::fangirl squee! of glee::

And now I am looking forward to the next bit for this too. I like HJ, and the hat is priceless. You have HJ wondering where it comes up with those sayings. You know, that just makes the readers wonder where you came up with them! Dirty mind, but thanks for entertaining me! :)

I also like that there hasn't been too much of an attach by HJ on Dumbledore (yet?). It can be the easy way to go when writing the "Harry takes control of his life" story. Not that you don't do it well in other stories, it was just nice to see something different here.

Please continue writing, as I really think you're one of the best of the current crop of HP ff writers out there.

ps - thanks for giving Fawkes a sense of humor. He'd have to have one as D's familiar, and it's good to see someone use it. And he would have to be tired of that hat by now.

JBern replied:

Thank you for a very long review.   Chapter 1 of the sequel to bumblebee posted this weekend, so I hope you enjoyed.   I'm glad that you enjoyed after this story.   Eventually, HJ will have to go after Dumbledore for the handling of this entire mess, but right now HJ knows he really isn't in the position to get out from under Dumbledore's thumb.   I'm glad he also liked the Phoenix having a sense of humor.

Regards,
Jim
