will be interesting to see if you manage to make this a good hp/fd most people cannot but your other stories are good enough to give me faith. the archbishop of canterbury could end up as a fairly interesting side plot if you decide to make the Vatican aware of wizards (and i almost cannot imagine how they could NOT know about them), or very funny if you decide to have them NOT be aware of wizards, makes it slightly difficult to convince him to talk with a ghost, though as clergy he aught to beleive in at least general supernaturality. look fowartds to more both of this and your other stories.... incidentaly what was neviles wand?
Thanks for wrriting,
Jay

People always seem to write this pairing based solely on sex.   That is one trap that I hope to avoid.   With any luck, I will be able to give her characterization a greater level of depth.   As for the Archbishop of Canterbury, that's a long ways off but hopefully it will eventually work its way into the story.   I really didn't pick out anything for Neville's wand.   So, whatever he ended up with Canon, which was I think Oak and unicorn hair.

I liked it, but then again I've liked all your stories so far. I hope that the rest of Gryffindor find out what really happened so that that HJ can put them in there place. Well can't wait for the next chapter.

JBern replied:

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter as I said, there will be a delay before chapter 8 comes out.   I hope it's not too long ago!

I really enjoyed this chapter, but whilst HJ is a fusion of Harry and James, and James is a bit older than he was at school, I think it's a shame that he seems to have absolutely none of his Maraudering nature.

I can picture this Bloody Barron terrorising any student wearing a "Potter Stinks" badge.

I'm guessing Cedric won't be revealing the secret of the egg this time around. I know you plan to have the hat 'mentor' Harry, but I think it would be fun to have HJ lose his patience with the egg and toss it into the lake.

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.   HJ has his marauding nature, but he is actively choosing not to use it.   Has other things like a certain prophecy hanging over his head that are much more important to him right now.   There will be more and different tasks than in the original tournament I think you'll be pleased with what I have in mind.

Jim

I like the idea of a Harry who doesn't mind being an outcast all that much. I also can't wait to see just how bad it's gonna be when the school reacts to his being the fourth champion. The idea of Fleur insulting everyone with a smile on her face is quite amusing, and deffinately something I can see happening.

JBern replied:

I get very much for the review.   HJs reputation will likely continue its downward spiral.   However, you have to remember the old saying that everyone loves a winner.

i enjoyed your comment on how it would not great to go back with the knowage of today. but everything he does not have to backfire, does it? he seems so lost and alone, worse than just harry had it. love the ghosts and neville but how about a friend or two. so little blood leting, i wonder how long that will last?

JBern replied:

I reckon that it will last until HJ figures out what the map is trying to tell him.   New chapter in probably 3 weeks.   Sorry for the delay in my reply.~Jim

Thanks for the chapter. Harry should have an easier time with the tournement considering all of his additional experience. The relationship with Fleur should be fun. W.

JBern replied:

Yes.   HJ will have an easier time with the tournament, but it's what's going on outside the tourney that will be a problem.   Sorry for the almost 1 month delay.   I haven't been checking this story.~Jim

Really excellent little chapter. Harry befriending Neville is a good thing. Harry diagnosing Creevey with "puberty" was a very funny thing. Keep up the excellent work.

Excellent chapter. HJ is coming along nicely. Too bad about the twins and Hermione, though. Katie must be a bit too immature to really date to react that badly (and if this is still going HJ/Fleur, well, I guess it might be an inverse James/Lily, since he doesn't seem to think much of her now)

Am I detecting a slight shift in Harry's personality, as he seems to refer to himself more in light of James's expreiences? Or is that just me? =)

Anyways, great chapter, looking forward to whatever you post next!

ps - as for your question James had about 20 plus years of experience.   Harry had 13.   It only makes sense.

Nice work. Harry seems to be going through the standard crap on Potter year. Always a solid backdrop for events in the wizarding world. He really should pull some pranks on the twins and make it look like Malfoy did it. A two for one deal! Or would that be three for one?

Very nice chapter. The thing that most stuck out to me in the last few chapters are the more subtle differences between HJ and canon and most fanfics. Things like Harry giving Fudge a fair chance because while he did mess Hagrid around he also overlooked the Marge incident. They give the fic an original and authentic feel.

Oh man, great again, I love this story. I think a bit more of the hat would be cool, I'm missing the snarky little head appendage.

Loved the line about going to school with sheep. As well as the one about going back and repeating it all not being worth the boredom. Interesting how they all turn on him before the cup spits out his name.
Great chapter and can't wait to see the rest of what you got coming in this fic and your other ones as well.

Outcast Harry before the tournament even starts? Interesting. This chapter feels much more like a set-up chapter, with a much more subdued feeling, although the naked Tracey Davis was funny. I'm all about the revenge, so I'd love to see the twins, Ron, Hermione, etc. get their comeuppance. It really is amazing how STUPID everyone is in the Harry Potter universe, and the end of Book 7 really irritates me; with no indication of change and everything returning to the status quo. It's funny to see such a negative attitude towards Fleur; I'm very interested in how this plays out.

PS-Have you ever read a Crossover fic called "The Muggle Way" on TTH? It's a pretty fascinating and scathing look at the Wizarding World, and how the "stupid Muggles" know far more about it than Wizardkind thinks.

JBern replied:

No I haven't read the fic you mentioned.   I barely have time to read my own fics!   Sorry for the 1 month delay in replying.   I'm certain sparks will fly between HJ and Fleur though not in a good way.~Jim

I really like how you've built the more assertive Harry/James. I cannot wait for the next segment of this quite innovative story. I especially like how you've eliminated the annoying Weasley connection and upped the Neville quotient.

Sorry typed Harry and meant HJ, stupid fingers. Love how you have distanced him from the others, you did it slowly and in a very real way, can't wait to read how HJ reacts the the challenges.

Very cool chapter. I am somewhat surprised HJ didn't slam the taking a friend to visit parents in the hospital thing in Katie's face. that would have been pretty gratifying. I am curious as to why he hasn't noticed that crouch is in the same places that moody is supposed to be in, and that Crouch is at the castle when he isn't supposed to be.

JBern replied:

It would have embarassed Neville if he brought that up in public.   Plus HJ doesn't care all that much.   Most of the time HJ isn't using the map.   He only uses it when he is holding his training sessions.   During that time he's more concerned with where Moody and Dumbledore aren't, rather then where they are.   I suspect that will change shortly.~Jim

ps - sorry about the 1 month delay in replying.   I haven't been checking this one while it's on hiatus.   It's about to come off hiatus.   Expect a new chapter in 3-4 weeks.~Jim
