HJ wouldn't be losing any money.... There's a romantic comedy brewing! =)
Bloody fantastic solution to the cliffhanger, certainly not what we expected, and a really clever bait and switch at the end.
You da man!
Coming back home after military training for this chapter was worth every second of the travelling time... Thanks!

JBern replied:

Thanks as always for the reviews.   Glad I could offer a pick me up after your training.~Jim

Great chapter!

Loved the sudden change in direction on Fleur. Nothing tempts someone that can have everything like denying them the one thing they can't have. If nothing else, Sirius would get a good laugh out of it.

I like the way you resolved the dementor issue. First time I've seen that. Usually Harry gets a super-Patronus to kill them.

If Kwan is making an appearence, does that mean Harry might get a jungle troll to add to his menagerie with Hat, Dobbly, Hedwig and Fawkes?

JBern replied:

Hack and the Hat?   I don't know if one story would be able to handle them together!   I'm sure Sirius will approve of HJ's actions.

Glad I can keep a seasoned writer like you on his toes with what I am going to do.

TML 8 in 2 weeks.   Lie 15 in 3-4 weeks.~Jim

Fantastic ending! HJ is playing hard to get, the little bugger and the cameo appearance of two BitJ characters was a pleasant surprise.

One question though, if Harry switched to French when he asked Aimee on a date, they would've have replied in the same language and as a result shouldn't Ron be more confused rather than shocked as to what had just happened?

JBern replied:

Ron was very confused at the end.   HJ probably would have to explain what happened to him.   Thanks for the review.~Jim

>>Oh it’s interesting all right, HJ, there’s action, mystery, and drama, but where’s the comedy and the romance? I want the whole fucking package! I demand entertainment!<<

Here, the hat sounds like some of your fans. LOL!

>>Don’t forget Harry that soon we’ll correct the oversight of awarding you that Order of Merlin you so richly deserve.<<

Maybe "_by_ awarding you"?

Please have HJ tear Ron a new one for that. Ron is not at fault for being a cretin, but HJ has no need for a cretin as a good friend.

JBern replied:

I was in a hurry to get this chapter out and some of the dialogue suffers.   Thanks for pointing it out.

Regards,

Jim

Okay...

Wow. Erm... Crossing TML with Lie? interesting touch.
Will we see a Jaguar Who happens to be trying to kill people that work with Death Eaters, and this was such a strike, only the Jaguar called it off just after seeing HJ in the 'ring, so to speak?

JBern replied:

Well, if you recall, Aimee was a Death Eater in TFtCD.   Glad you enjoyed it.   Somewhere on the FFA forums is a Bungle/TFtCD one shot with Bungle Harry waking up in the bed with TFtCD Susan.

Forgot to say that my favourite part of this chapter is the Harry/Ron/Hermione scene. It's nice to see HJ having a bit of harmless fun with his friends.

JBern replied:

I thought the scene was the kind of change of pace the story needed.~Jim

Hah, an assassination attempt that isn't targeted at Harry, what a change! Oh, and I just loved the ending.

JBern replied:

Yeah, that was one of the novelties when I conceived the scene.   Having someone elses assassination attempt cross HJ's path was pretty amusing, so I went with it.~Jim

These chapters always end too soon!

Somehow I saw HJ asking Aimee coming, even before he asked Ron if he wanted to tag along (why?).

If only every new chapter of Lie could come out within the same time of each other as the last two did.

The Metal Cage Claws were a cool idea, and I thought the scene in general was handled very well.

Keep it up. ;)

JBern replied:

Glad you liked it.   If I was independently wealthy, I'd write even more.   Unfortunately, I'm not.   Maybe someday...

Good going, HJ! Kwan, huh? And an inmteresting deal Harry was offered for Snape, I must say. This Dumbles is slowly learning

JBern replied:

Since I'm doing over the top manipulative Dumbledore in TML, I wanted this one to  be more of a competent, but tired old man.~Jim

Brilliant chapter!

Just wondering if you know how many ppl guessed that Fawkes would save the champions last chapter?

Loved the ending!

*sits down and begins her 'clamoring'*
*grins*

JBern replied:

I don't recall anyone picking Fawkes.   Glad you liked it.   TML 8 in 2 weeks.   Lie 15 in 3-4 weeks.~Jim

You threw me a curve on that last bit. Although, it should have been expected of James. Excellent as always.

Glad I can keep you guessing.~Jim

ROTFLMAO!!!

All hail the Hat!

JBern replied:

Thanks.  Just wait until next chapter and see what the Hat  is up  to next.~Jim

"Dance for me you hairless, sperm-burping monkey!"

Sheer, utter genius.

I shall be spending the next week trying to work that line in with a normal conversation with my boss.

Oh yes, I will indeed...

JBern replied:

In that case, I wish you luck in your next job after the boss fires you.   :P

Glad   you liked it.~Jim

God, you always end your chapters with a bang. Nice going with Ron, I should have expected him to fold as soon as he got near her.

JBern replied:

I figured I telegraphed it as soon as HJ invited Ron along.~Jim

Great chapter. I hope Hagrid doesn't get the shaft too bad. HJ did well against the dementors. I wonder if HJ will continue his schooling at Beaubattons? Thanks for writing. W.

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   You'll have to wait for the rest of the story to see what happens in the sequel.~Jim

joeBob posted a comment on Monday 30th June 2008 5:46pm for Sometimes, It's Good to be Me

Another outstanding chapter, thank you!

The dementor fight was good -- you never go for simple, eh? :)

Kwan and Jacob doing the dimensional hop? Was hoping you'd "borrow" some more DobbyElfLord characters. ;-) Or better yet, Hack will make an appearance?!

That socialist bilge about "the needs of the many" did NOT come from Star Trek. The screenwriters lifted it from some obscure hack, name of Charles Dickens. Aspiring writers might oughta know that. ;-)

JBern replied:

Simple is boring.   The Hat and Hack in the same story would be too much.   I wouldn't hold my breath.

HJ might not know that the line comes from Dickens.   He'd be more likely to recall it from the Star Trek movies. :P
