Well, in all honesty, it should have won, but it's only 976 words.

LOL, that was really very funny. I figured it would be zombies but I like the vote for Brains finale. Excellent little story. Hope your anthology goes well.

It is really unfortunate that too many voted for the orator, and ignored the principled candidate in the primaries, so that both the "major" parties had candidates no better than the one you give us above.

thanks for the excellent story in such a tough format.
Warm regards
Ken

This is a really good story. I appreciate the whole line of thinking that went into this. Thank you for a really good image. Treating congress as Zombies is excellent. Please continue to include little short stories like this. It really adds to your scope of writing. pms

J-Bern, my man! How come I feel like a lot of zombies just voted? I am proud that as Americans we have finally broken the race barrier and now "The Man" is now black. Why did he have to be the most liberal one in Washington? I'll pray for him and hope for the best.

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   I hope this gives you a taste of what my original writing will look like.

As for this election, I'm a moderate.   I voted for the other guy, but that's over now.   I hope the president-elect is successful and betters the country.   He's got a tough road ahead.   If so, reward him with 4 additional years.   If not, vote him out and give someone else a turn.

The Crow posted a comment on Thursday 6th November 2008 1:14pm for The Rally

Heh, it was worth reading for a chuckle.   I think Avery's speech could have used a little work, but I enjoyed the injected realism into a Zombie situation.

I suppose that the dead would have rights, I wouldn't enjoy some bludgeoning my relatives.

Quite funny the foreman's and the like would be forced to hire this cheap labour, I enjoy the nonchaland nature with which they talk of the dead.

The small piece gives us a lot of information in such a short time.
Overall great little piece that pays a little homage to zombie parody's.

Thanks a bunch for the review.   I'm glad you liked it and hope that you folks will come back for more of my original works as they become available.~Jim

Suitable.
A great snapshot with loads and loads of insinuations of a greater story. Not my genre, of course, but this shortie was just great.
Thanks.

Glad you liked it.   Oddly enough, I seem to have a lot of zombie stories in my original works.   Hopefully, some more of them will be available soon.~Jim

Sick and twisted.

That being said LOVED IT. Its scary how realistic it could be. I could easily see that happening. Good story keep it up

JBern replied:

Glad you liked it.   There's plenty more where this came from.   The April 2009 issue of Necrotic Tissue will carry another of my zombie stories and it's way better than this one!~Jim

Talk about hilarious with the whirlwind of rumors and innuendo in this election!

Thanks.   Glad you appreciated the pokes at the 2008 election.~Jim

Brilliantly done, very dark and very snarky at the same time.

Wish I was a judge at Apex, would have ranked this one at the top.

Vote for Brains!

Thanks Fish.   I appreciate it.~Jim

Heh, fun and timely story. interesting how Brian seemed to be a combined McCain/Obama as far as policy and history goes.
Thanks for writing,
Jay

JBern replied:

Yeah, you could say I borrowed "liberally" from both of them in a "conservative" manner.

Sorry, very bad puns.

Okay, that's the kind of warped, sick humor I've come to know and love from you! Great story!

JBern replied:

There's so much more to come.   I'm working on a possible release of 12 of my short stories as a compilation.   Most haven't been seen.
