Wonderful story; I love the sense of justice you have with Draco getting the Cur's mark as well as the trouncing that HJ gives both Drumstang competitors!
Cannot wait to see what is coming next

This was a great chapter, the dueling was great and the Harry / Fleur dynamic is developing nicely.
Eagerly waiting for more for more and I hope your original novel goes smoothly.

That was a great chapter...for a bit of hilarity it would be great to hear a rumor starting on just why Snape keeps that particular potion stocked in his personal storeroom...and how Draco immediately knew which one to choose...I bet it could get bad enough to have Draco wishing he had admitted to brewing it himself...and it would certainly add to Snape's problems...especially as they look into just who Sarah Underhill is!
Great chapter, can't wait for your next update!
Marc D.

Thanks for the compliments. You'll have to wait and see how Snape and Draco fare. I suspect they won't do so hot.
Next update coming soon. Sorry for the delay in my reply.~Jim

This continues to interest me. I wonder what Dumbles will do, when Harry sends off his letter.
Thank you for updating so fast.
More soon, please.

Wow! Really great duals. It was too bad Harry didn't get to claim his win with Fleur but I think he gained something in that dual. Fleur is starting to realize Harry isn't what she thought he was. That is a big plus. That was good about Bill being shot down as a casanova but it looks like Fleur is trying to figure things out for herself. That is good. Maybe Bill will turn out to be ok in the long run. I'm glad Harry retaliated against Fred and George. They needed to be put in their place. I hope they learn from this encounter but it is the twins we are talking about. Ginny did the right thing by not bringing Harry into the aftermath. It is better that the Griffindors are mad at the twins for this one. I'm glad Harry isn't being vindictive against Athena. He beat her but he didn't try to humiliate her. That was very sporting of him. His dual with Vicktor was good. I'm glad he won but of course he had to take some punishment. He wouldn't be Harry otherwise. I'm glad he warned Hermione about the effects of his spider attack on the twins stores. That was good. He and Hermione had a good laugh too. That was excellent. I look forward to more of this story when you get back. Good luck on your book. I look forward to reading that. I also look forward to chapter 6 of Turm me loose! Thanks for writing. I really enjoy anything you choose to write. pms

Good luck on Dead Eye!!! I intend to buy it.
Now for Critique.
Overall good chapter, great fight scenes, and mixture of Harry and James' personalities. Sad parts where there was little creative cussing by the Hat. Keep on writing! What do you intend to do on the Fanfic side after Dead Eye, Turn Me Loose, and This?
JBern replied:
Thanks for the vote of confidence on Dead Eye. I intend to deliver a quality read and I'm within 10 thousand words of the finish line (at least for the 1st draft).
My fanfics start up next week. Visit my page off of this site and you'll see what I plan next.
Regards,
Jim

This story has steadily improved since it began. I especially like the creative ways you are having Harry James deal with the problems he encounters. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this plays out. Keep it up.

Ha, Ha!
He's smart, tough, and vicious - I think I'm in love. What a terrific hero: someone we can respect. I really enjoyed the duels, but I think my favorite part still is watching the two original personalities merge into a true gestalt; the best of both.
This story has been a delight.

A nice send off before your break. The action scenes were exciting. The switching spell was great. I was a little surprised that Harry volunteered to fulfill the bet. I was expecting him to just wait and see what Fleur did, but I suppose if he's trying to do the opposite of what she expects, he succeeded. It'll be interesting to see how Ginny develops. Maybe she'll grow up a bit if she actually listens to what Harry tells her. Anyway, great job here, and good luck with your novel.

My break is almost over. Glad you liked the switching spell. I wanted to feature transfiguration heavily in the duels since it usually. The first draft of Dead Eye is almost done.
Thanks for the reviews. It's regulars like you that convinced me that I could write a book and it might actually sell.~Jim

As always another fantastic chapter, I was hoping it would be the Mark of the Cur that Malfoy'd get. Somehow whipping or ransoming his wand didn't leave as nice a flavor in my mouth. Thanks for writing!

Glad you enjoyed it. More coming soon.~Jim

Hmm. Since Bumble-twat said that Hogwarts was the aggrieved party, then Snape, as head of Slytherin house, should be the one to apply the Cur's Mark to Draco. In that way, both of them will feel the humiliation of being bested by HJ
You know the twins are going to try something once more. Strangely enough, I can see Percy swinging around and siding with Harry against the twins.
As to HJ, I think he should tell McGonnagall that if she takes the job in Portugal, that he would transfer there.
Apparently, HJ is thinking of transferring out of Hogwarts anyway.
Good story so far. :)
JBern replied:
In my original version HJ mentioned to McGonagall that he'd be interested in following her if she left, but I opted to go a little more vague in the finished product.
Thank you for the reveiw and I hope to continue to impressing you in the future. My fanfics start up again next week.~Jim

Another excellent chapter. The duelling was fast paced and creative. I like how you are handling his relations with his housemates: Hermione spending more time with, Ginny trying, and all the other Weasleys either ignored or under fire.
Nice bit of payback on Bill. Looking forward to reading how Fluer treated him.
His revenge on the twins had me laughing.
I'm glad to read that you have a shot at a real book. Good luck!
