Very much worth the wait, and looking forward to your book when it comes out. I enjoyed the way things went with Harry here, and fun to maybe see Minerva start to make her own decisions again, as well as how things went in the last duels. Harry could have been a lot worse than he did, and I think that with all this, along with Draco's punishment, a good way for the gang all around.

JBern replied:

I'm looking forward to it as well.   I'm in the home stretch and about to start up my fanfics again.   Thanks for all the reviews.   It's the regulars reviewers like you that convinced me that I'd have a shot at selling an original book.~Jim

It's a very enjoyable story. I'd like to see Harry as a playboy with the girls and also more interaction with Fred and George.

JBern replied:

Thank you.   I don't know that I'll be going the playboy route.   We'll have to see.   Next chapter is coming soon.~Jim

That was fricking awesome. It really was. The perfect blend of action, subtly and political manoeuvring.

I'm going to have to reread the Krum duel again though, the switching spell confused me with what was happening.

I also love the way you've rounded off this chapter so I'm not going to be cursing you for not touching this story for couple of months. Kudos :-)

One question though - I didn't realise that the original story was coauthored. Who is the other writer?

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   Kokopelli aka John is my coauthor.   His help with Darkness was instrumental in that story and he's great to work with.   Glad you enjoyed the chapter sorry for the delay in my reply.

Regards,

Jim

its amazing how many reviews pop up so quickly....
btw, just a small grammar error
"Ginny’s eyes are lock with mine." should it be locked?

JBern replied:

Actually what is amazing is how far behind I am on my replies.   Thanks for your review and the correction.~Jim

I think it's good that fleur doesn't act too bitchy, what with that bet... I really liked the duels, quite exciting...
nice how harry spied out aimee with that badge, and I can't wait to see the chaos that sarah undhill will bring...

and finally: good luck with your original work!

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.   I hope to continue to impress you with both my fanfics and my original works.

Chaos?   I can do chaos...

Good luck with the novel!
No doubt it's going to be great.
A query though, isn't the pensieve of Nicholas Flamel a bit too much? I mean, they would gain so much knowledge in the way of Alchemy, e.g Philosopher's Stone wise.
Meh, you probably leading it too something down the line.
Anyhoo, good luck with the novel and hope its a hit!

JBern replied:

I hope it's a hit too!   As for the pensieve, it's only the pensieve.   Flamel's memories not included.

Next chapter coming soon.~Jim

Once again you wrote a fantastic chapter.

It's good to see HJ succeed at something - the duelling seems to be a good bet. He has James' knowledge to rely on in the Knowledge Bowl portion - be interesting to see how that goes.

I'll be waiting (impatiently) for the next 4 to 6 weeks while you finish up your original story.

Almost done with the original novel.   Just a mere 10 thousand words left to go.   I thought I'd take a break and catch up on my replies.   I should be writing fanfic this time next week.~Jim

Good one!
I particularly liked the outcome of the duels - Harry doesn't get it all his way, but he still comes out of it feeling like a hero =D
(Not to mention the switching spell and the the fire was an inspired touch, really made the duel for me!)

Take all the time you need with your novel, I'm greatly looking forward to it!

JBern replied:

Glad you enjoyed the duels.   The novel is almost done with the 1st draft.   I hope lots of people want to give it a try.   I should be back to writing fanfic next week.~Jim

You're an amazing, exceptional writer and I love your work. I am blown away, constantly, by the complexity that you create and the thought you put into yoru stories. You and Jeconais are my favorite male authors (with Miss_AnnThropic being my fav. female fanfic author). I am anxious to have a look at the novel you are writing and I hope that some day, I'll have a chance to chat with you personally.

Congratulations on another incredible chapter.

JBern replied:

I'm almost done with the first draft.   Thanks for the compliments.   I expect the book to be out in August.   If it catches on well enough, I'm not opposed to a book tour.   I might be able to go to DragonCon in Atlanta, but my second daughter is due to be born only a few weeks before that.   My plans are obviously contingent on that.

Jim

Sweet! kickass!Harry mixed with a bit of empathy to see through Fluer's mask. Marked Draco, Snape on the way out and do I sense a flavor of Avenging!McGonagill?

Great work, good luck on the original work. I'd pay to read it.

Excellent!

JBern replied:

I hope a lot of people feel that way.   I'm just about done with the first draft and ready to pickup my fanfics.   TML6 is first then Lie13.

Clever idea on how to close out Harry and Fleur's bet. He looks good by offering to "pay up" without argument, but he knows she's already decided not to hold him to it. Make him look good (to her) without any real risk on his side.

> Whenever you get within a few feet of another badge for the next few days, it’ll change them too.
Clever viral effect.

> "Better still, that deranged bitch he’s married to."
Good idea, as far as forcing psychic pain on both Draco and Narcy. Bad, though, in that the Cur's Mark requires him to have a conscience in order to be properly effective. Though according to the Hat's remarks in the previous chapter, it must be applied by the aggrieved party.

Good duels. Interested to see how you handle the next round to avoid repetition.

I liked the chapter. Looking forward to more, eventually.

Finally getting around to replying.   Glad you enjoyed the chapter.   Just about finished with Dead Eye's 1st draft and ready to pick up my fanfics again.~Jim

Jim,

Now THAT is a lot of subplots! My compliments to you and your betas on a job well done. Nice, believable characterizations. Krum and Granger are very well done.

Loved the McGonnagal/Potter interview scene.

The deranged ideas in the dueling scenes are very entertaining as well.

Good luck to you and Kokopelli with "Dead Eye".

Doug

JBern replied:

Thanks.   The betas deserve all the credit they get and then some.   Glad you are enjoying the characterizations of the people outside of HJ, which can be a chore in a 1st person pov story.

Dead Eye's 1st draft is just about done.   It's so close that I can taste it!

Excellent work. Brilliant setup, great fight scenes and I have to admire the way the characters are coming together as they show how they deal with things.

And as always, Love the hat!!!

JBern replied:

Thanks.   My hiatus is almost over and I'll be back to fanficing by the middle of next week.~Jim

Wow, great chapter Jim. All the duels were well-written, the switching spell was hilarious, and the Harry/Fleur interaction is getting interesting. Good luck with Dead Eye, I'll seeya again in about a month.

Excellent chapter. I wonder if Bill had a good date or not.If Bill or the twins figure out that Harry blew up their dung bombs, they are likely to still try

You write truly excellent dueling scenes, and the taut emotions that go with them.
I loved both the scene where we find out more about Fleur, to whom I am actually beginning to warm, and Hermione, who I wish was going to end up with Harry too.
Bill the playa? I bet Fleur kept the date to scope him out and to maybe teach him a small Veela lesson.
The destruction of the Twins was perfect.
The Mark of the Cur was my preferred punishment for Draco - you must be psychic!
All the very best for your original fiction - I will be seeking my copy once it's publically available.

JBern replied:

Glad you liked it.   Finally catching up on my replies.   Gee, all the people in Bungle were saying how they wanted to see Harry and Fleur together, so I write a Harry and Fleur story and everyone says how they want to see Harry and Hermione together.

Make up your minds!!!!!!   Sorry had to say that.   I think the next story that I do I won't announce the pairing and really play it by ear.   Of course that one might be a crossover, so the pairing might not even be with someone from the HP universe.

Thanks again for the reviews.~Jim
