I'm glad to see Harry having to deal with what happened. JKR just skipped over all that stuff as if Harry could take things without any cost to his soul. Well done, and what a lovely thing to bring him back to the land of the living, to give him hope and more determination than ever to stay light and survive the war. Well done!

I don't think I reviewed last chapter - I was too involved with the plot at the time - but I loved how Harry went a little off the deep end with Snape.
As to this chapter, I particularly enjoyed Bill's bit at the beginning; especially how I wasn't at all sure where he was or with whom he was speaking until the end.

WOW! Go Bill! What a beautiful way to off that bint! If anyone deserved it, she did. I love that Snape finally got what he so richly deserved too! What a team Harry and Bill would make. Throw in the vampire and they would be truly frightening!

It's a far cry from the Aimee you see in The Lie I've Lived, but I'm guessing you figured that out already.~Jim

Bah. I hate babies. Or, more specifically, when 16 year old Harry has a baby with a 16 year old teenage girl.
JBern replied:
If I had to do the story over again, I might not have gone down the preggers route, but the whole story was a learning experience.~Jim

Oh Bill, you poor boy, that was brilliant. I loved the mummification ritual. I was wondering if he was at Aimee's.
Ah. Now I'm worried as I'm still not 100% on this whole baby thing but if it stops Harry from going dark then I'm for it.
Sorry, I seem to be more critical of this but please take it in the spirit it is given. I love all your work but I just think Bungle is stronger and more enjoyable than this one. Still a fantastic story, but Susan is just a bit colourless compared to Luna (though who isn't?).
JBern replied:
Well, Bill loves his Mummy!!!!!! Sorry bad joke. Bungle is a stronger story, but I still love writing this one anyway.~Jim

Great scene with Bill and Aimee! The shattering of people and reconstructing them through the disasters of war is a reality few write in HP fanfiction. You are a champ at it. I try to do it a little, but yours is more realistic, gritty, raw, but I'm still writing for young kids and such.
Fine work.
JBern replied:
Bill is far and away my favorite Weasley. He is much different in Bungle, but still an enjoyable character. (As a side note Aimee Beaucourt will appear in The Lie I've Lived. I haven't quite decided how I will use her yet. If HJP has made enough headway with Fleur they may go to the Yule Ball together. If not, HJP may very well walk right up to Aimee in front of Fleur allowing Fleur to start in with the 'Oh, I'm so flattered you came to me immediately, Arry, but I am how do you say conzidering my options.' Then HJP asks Aimee to the ball in a calculated move to really piss Fleur off.)
I agree that my work is definitely not suited for the youngsters out there, but I believe that the books should grow as the characters do (or don't in many cases). It makes me wonder how 'vanilla' book 7's war will be. I honestly don't have high hopes for it.

Ok, so many people give Harry a kid to "live for". Its kind of cliched but I suppose it makes it that much more imperative that he doesn't go dark.
As always a very well written chapter. I particularly liked the stuff about Draco Malfoy. Its nice to see him portrated as capable for once, and especailly as the unknown quantity you've made of him in this. Bill Weasley getting revenge on Amy with that very nasty spell was also muy muy fun!
Although I wasn't overly impressed with Harry this chapter, I think it was neccessary considering what he had done to Snape. I kind of liked that he seemed almost scared of his own magic.
Thanks for writing and I look forward to more!

Thanks again for all the reviews. Chapter 29 was just posted, so I hope you enjoy. The kid thing was bound to happen the moment I included it in the end of the line clauses back in chapter 8. I like the psychological aspect of the characters not immediately bouncing back from the horrors they have seen.~Jim

I can honestly see Hermione after this - and ESPECIALLY after Tonks's little explosion - finding some time to be alone and very calmly and quietly taking her own life.
Or reversing completely and giving up all of her studying. Which of course would lead to Tonks having another massive explosion where she proves that she has the Black temper and says even MORE unforgiveable things.
Personally, I think I'd like to see someone who cares for Hermione walk up to Tonks and punch several teeth out of her mouth. Fine, the woman was hurting and lashed out, but she needs to be reminded that words said in anger are remembered long afterward. I think I'd like to see some punishment of Tonks for her outburst.
As always, this is a very well written and quite intriguing chapter.
JBern replied:
Hmmm. Hermione on a path of self-destruction. How interesting. I like interesting. We'll see. Harry will interface with Hermione next chapter. It's a promise. There should be some reprecussions for Tonks' behavior. Then again, the world isn't always fair.~Jim

Interesting development . . . why was it blue first? just part of the spell process? Now that harry has something else to live for, I look forward to seeing how intensive his training becomes. Keep up the good work
thanks for sharing

Look at the little rhyme again. If the aura stays blue... It didn't. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Next update coming soon.~Jim

Oops, my mistake. I guess they DO have enough time to be physically intimate, or at least it is implied. I guess I forgot about that -- I just went & re-read the whole story. Still, I stand by my earlier statement that they need to work on "Us" in an emotional sense. Can't wait for the next chapter!
JBern replied:
Oh, I agree with you. Susan would probably agree with you too. Harry's a little too closed off emotionally right now to have an opinion. Thanks for rereading the story. Hope it was just as enjoyable this time around. I just posted chapter 17 of Bungle if you are hard up for reading material today.~Jim

Having Draco back was great. Nice to see that his vacation met with my expectations of his character.
More Sadistic!Bill please. What a surprise ending!
Please do not tell me I was just cursed by Molly Weasley?
-that had me laughing.
Can Ron at least make a bit of a come back? He and Hermione have been set far adrift.
JBern replied:
You'll see more of Ron and Hermione next chapter. Poor Voldy, all the other fanfic Voldys are giving him a hard time for getting cursed by Molly. Thanks for all the reviews you given so far.~Jim

Two cliffies in a row.
Nice.
This is getting better. THanks for not just having Harry recover in a small amount of time.
Good work.

It seemed like a logical point to stop the chapter...
Glad you liked it. I start laying out chapter 29 today.~Jim

It twists and turns, coils and knots...
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!
For all the power Harry displays you're doing a good job of keeping the human element without lingering on whininess. You're also one of the few who doesn't seem fixated by the Light/Dark debate which is a definate plus! ^_^
So keep up the great work I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
JBern replied:
Thank you for the compliments. You're right. Harry's debate isn't so much light/dark it's more sane/insane. Glad you liked it.~Jim

Happy New Year! (I'm sick of saying this twenty times a day...)
Hmm good chapter. I'm a little disappointed though, cause I couldn't find any detailed description of the mummification ritual process. You know, the brain being extracted from the noose by magically conjured and animated kitchenware tools, guts being... well, the whole 'gore' thing.
Bill was as excellent as he is in your fanfictions, though I already read that in the teaser.
I hope Draco takes the path to the Darkness and ends up being gutted by Harry later in this fanfiction.
Hey, do you think you could make Harry split his personallity, becoming something like Gollum?
Harry: Oh yes we could! Spoil nice fishy greasy Snappy-snape.... <scrawl up close to the remains of the potion master> Give it to usss, rrraww... and wrrriggling!
Harry: <slaps himself in the head> Noo, Harry must not eat this! Might get sick! Plus, Harry must not like this! Harry is not a murderer!
...or maybe not. Well, I really don't see why Harry cares so much about torturing and gutting Snape. I mean, the greasy git well deserved it and it doesn't make Harry an crazy killer.
JBern replied:
Interesting Smeagol!Harry. Probably not in this story, but it's definitely amusing. Sorry I didn't provide enough detail of the mummifcation process. I almost called the chapter Two Mummies but it would have tipped my hand with Susan too quickly...
I start laying out chapter 29 today. Look for chapter 17 of Bungle by midweek.~Jim

This was a good chapter. I'm glad Bill got Aimee. She deserved it. I am sorry Harry had such a hard time dealing with the last battle. It stands to reason he would be ready for a breakdown after having to kill people he cared about. It was also great that Voldemort wasn't haveing such a great time at Hogmeade. I really like the part where Mrs. Weaseley gets a shot at Voldemort enough for him to feel it. It was great that Filius got some recognition for his dueling expertise. I am glad Susan finally got Hermione to shut up. That was a great ending. Harry is going to be a father. What a great way to get him back on track to thinking about the future. Susan did a great job of talking to him about the problems. Her bluff was great. A real surprise to Harry and also to Susan. What a great way for them both to find out their going to be parents. Thanks for writing. I look forward to the next chapter. pms

Thanks for the review. Poor Voldy, all the other fanfic Voldys can now pick on him for getting cursed by Molly. It's very humbling. On Harry's side, rarely does a child 'fix everything'. My suspicion is that there will still be rough sailing for the Harry/Susan ship.~Jim

Hmmm, interesting developments. I honestly haven't gotten the impression that Harry and Susan have been intimate all that much, not only physically but emotionally. Physically, I feel there haven't been too many opportunities to get her pregnant. Granted, "it only takes one time...", and the affinity, or whatever you were calling it, is supposed to make them more fertile and compatible. I see that, but this maybe ties into my next point. In regards to their emotional growth, my impressions of the Harry/Susan 'ship has been more of a "casual friends, sometimes with benefits" rather than two betrothed people trying to get to know each other well enough to fall in love. I understand that they are in the middle of some terrible nastiness, but I think that Susan at least, would try to press Harry for a little more "Us" time, especially given the realization that she does indeed love him. That is my two cents, take it for what it is worth.
JBern replied:
For a few chapters they were like bunnies. Hannah even made a point of telling them to warn her back when they were at #12, but you have a point about the fact that their relationship (all 8-10 weeks of it) probably needs some work on their parts. Course there is their handfasting ceremony coming up. Think there will be any pre-wedding jitters?~Jim

dude man again u excel. i admit the pov jumping around this chapter was a little strange and i do find it annoying when we relive the same events from different pov's but u managed to sort it out admirably, some authors get EVERY chracters take on harry offing some one and the cahpter goes on forever (like i am ) anyway great update and hope to see much much more
ps best scence was voldie realising he had been cursed by molly weasley. long live the matriarch of the red headed village!!!!
JBern replied:
Thanks. I'm glad I didn't lose you on the pov thing. Give Molly her due, she drew blood. He's probably afraid to show his face around the other Dark Lords at the lodge now. ~Jim
