I love it, and the thought I like best

Naturally, the first time he did it, the troll dropped his pants to make sure that all the equipment grows. You didn’t need to see that. Not only was it gross, but it made you feel oddly inadequate.

Just picturing this scene had me with tears from laughing so hard.

I'm glad I could spread a bit of humor into your day.   Wow, you readers sure left a backlog of reviews for me to catch up on!   Next chapter coming in 2 weeks as I try to finish my other story.~Jim

Good initial fight. If Dolohov is representative of what Death Eaters are like to fight, it could be a problem. If there had been more than three and the all had that skill level...

Great to see Kwan and Hack came with him. I like them.

Ambassador Potter. I like it. :-)

Interesting lesson on diplomacy. I was surprised the meeting with DD was so smooth and short.

I have to agree about Hack--"he’s just that cool." :-D

With Katie, and with DD's hand, I see that you're incorporating at least part of HBP.

I must confess that this didn't set the hook as hard for me as the first part of Bungle. But then very, very few stories or published books ever have.

I'm thrilled to see you're continuing this series. Thanks for sharing it with us.

JBern replied:

Well Dolohov is an above average DE.   Yes, I am using basic plot points from HBP, but I will be using my own particular spin on them.   I hope my writing continues to impress you and I will do my level best to keep this story at the same level as Bungle.   Next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim

Haha excellent. Can't wait for more, although Lie is probably my favorite story I can hardly complain that you temporarily put it on the backburner for stuff like this.

JBern replied:

Thanks.   Next chapter in 2 weeks.   Lie is 4 weeks out.~Jim

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I'm so excited I can't sit straight.

I LOVED your opening chapter. I was a bit shocked (but after further reflection agreed with) Fawkes' reaction to Harry. Obviously he's picked up on a bit of the darkness Harry has taken on in his life - or else he's just too much of a Moldie-Voldie fan.

You rock my world, Jim! Can't wait for the next chapter!

JBern replied:

Hopefully you can sit straight now.   The backlog of reviews you folks left for me to reply to is staggering!   Sorry it's taken me so long.~Jim

Since you are going for a non-stop roller coaster I'd say you've achieved it so far - and that's including Bungle.

An interesting technique I've seen that's left the reader (or at least me) breathless and on the edge of my seat was giving the appearance of a breather in the action and then dashing it as something else happens and our protagonist has to run to try to catch up to the unexpected events.

I.e. We see Harry studying and planning for the next day when suddenly the wall behind him explodes and all of a sudden he is dodging curses.
Or maybe he is eating birthday cake on a quiet summer day when suddenly his insides are burning and he is fighting not to black out as Death Eaters are trying to beat the door down.
Or Harry is just recovering from yet another moment of excitement, his wounds still healing and a book of runes open in front of him, when he finds out that his friend has been kidnapped and has to rush to the rescue...

I'm not saying that these things are thrill rides in and off themselves, I think it's the sudden change of atmosphere that does it.

JBern replied:

There's more of that coming soon.   Chapter 2 is written, but not edited.   I'm trying to finish off TFtCD before posting much more, but you'll see a new chapter in 2 weeks.   Sorry it took so long for me to reply to your review.~Jim

God, I hope you got something really special planned for Snape. Just can't get enough of him getting the smack-down. With the release of HP7, you're my last hope Jbern. Thanx, and glad to see the new storyline.

JBern replied:

Didn't I just reply to this.   It must be a duplicate.   Anyway, next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim

This was great to see -- I really enjoy the way you write this Harry and his compatriots. The rollercoaster is certainly off to quite a start -- a quick and nasty fight, fun with the Ministry and Dumbledore, and some rough and ready curse breaking.

Can't wait to see how people -- teachers, students, former friends, and especially Luna -- react.

JBern replied:

Finally tackling this backlog of reviews.   Wow, you folks really liked it didn't you?   Luna interaction in chapter 3.   Chapter 2 has much too much going on.~Jim

So great to see the sequel out so soon. Oddly enough I reread Bungle in the Jungle not 3 days ago. If intense if the effect you're going for you're certainly achieving it. The sarcastic comments just seem to add to it and fit well with the Harry we see in the last chapter of Bungle. Look forward to more and Luna in person should be memorable.

JBern replied:

Thanks.   Next chapter in 2 weeks.   Sorry, it took me so long to reply, but you folks left a ton of reviews to be replied to.   Luna coming in chapter 3 with a brief cameo in 2.~Jim

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That was definitely worth waiting for. Words can't express how much I enjoyed Bungle in the Jungle, and the sequel looks to be just as amazing. Erm, more? Pretty please?

Thanks.   Next chapter in 2 weeks.   Sorry for the tardy reply, finally catching up.~Jim

Awesome! Can't wait for chapter 2.

Though it may be time to re-read part one since I don't remember what happened on Lakota reservation - at least not a battle where Harry fought against passing out.
I hope you drop in a back story for Hack's new club.
Nice battle scene - shows that it's still about skill rather than just a powerfest.
Junior minister? Absolutely brilliant.
Journeyman Cursebreaker - looking good. It looks like the daimon blood gave Harry a bit of an affinity for dark curses: link to Hack, spotting Katie's curse. The struggle with the curse is good, well balanced I think. Bill is still the master but he isn't really at the top of his game right now so it's not really a wonder that he couldn't pull the curse. Harry on the other hand seems to be a magical juggernaut so even if his technique is crude he can still overpower the already weakened curse (I mean Bill has to have achieved something!).
I can't wait to see the reactions of the Hogwarts crowd to the Merry Men (hmmm, you need to get some ladies in there - equal opportunity after all!) and vice versa.

Head a-flambe was a nice touch. Harry's assassination squad was way too perfect to be lost between sequels!

Like I said I can't wait to see more! And Harry's demonic animagus form! Hmmm speaking of which how is he clearing that with the Ministry? Just another thing that's blanketed by his Junior Ambassador status?

....Hack as familiar.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

JBern replied:

Chapter 2 is coming in 2 short weeks (from my reply - not your review).   Many of the things that were somewhat hinted to the reader (like all the meetings with the Brazilian Ministry and so forth) are now suddenly being explained.   It wouldn't have been any fun if I gave away those secrets then, now would it?   Sorry for the long delay in replying, but it's been busy here.~Jim

BOOYA!

DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE!!!!

I nearly wet myself with giggles and guffaws over this one line. "So far, the only thing you have discovered is that you always know where your troll is."

Great, Now I am not only a cool and Froody dude, I even know where my towel and my troll are.

Awesome.

Cannot wait for more of Hack, Harry, Bill and Kwan! OOOOOOH and LUNA!

JBern replied:

I'm guessing knowing where the troll is doens't come in handy when Hack is putting the wood to a female troll.   Sorry for the delayed reply.   Glad you liked it.   Next chapter in 2 weeks from my reply (not your review- sorry).~Jim

I can't remember if I ever reviewed BitJ, but you're showing the same abrubt style here. Harry is becoming a lot like some of the vets that came back from Iraq and other fun garden spots that the US Army has visited in the last decade.

He's rough, crude and determined to be the one that lives.

I like seeing someone that understands you can't be trained to kill things or people without changing dramatically.

JBern replied:

Thanks for the review.     Sorry for the reply delay, but you folks created one healthy backlog of reviews to reply to!   I'm glad you liked both this and Bungle and I think that Harry's outlook is a heck of a lot more believable than what we saw and suffered through in book 7.   Next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim
