Wow. Confrontations, half truths, double crosses, Riddle's influence inside the school, even Dumbles considering Harry/Petunia incest -- the pace is definitely not slowing down one bit.
Is it wrong of me to hope Malfoy does try something?
Very nice work, and I look forward to seeing just what Riddle has left in place for his horcrux.
JBern replied:
Thanks. Glad you got a cringe out of the Harry/Petunia implications. Technically, everyone (you the readers) know that Malfoy was behind the cursed necklace. Next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim

Wow. This is pretty wicked. I knew Harry was probably going to get screwed over on the wording of the oath. But Dumbledore's plan is pretty screwed up, and it does not speak well for Hermione's much-lauded intelligence that she allowed herself to be swept up in it.
I'm looking forward to the battle, and more importantly, how Harry is going to find a solution that protects the school without him having to dance to Dumbledore's (quite distastefully dissonant) tune.
until next chapter!

JBern replied:
Thanks. Things are never easy for Harry are they? Remember, who's the one always telling Hermione that she's the smartest witch of her generation? Dumbledore, Lupin and the rest. There's intelligence and common sense. An older more jaded Hermione might not have been lulled into this predicament.
Next chapter of this one in 2 weeks. Next chapter of Darkness in a few days. Thanks as always for the reviews.~Jim

Awesome Sauce! Good chapter =D Nice to see that Dumbles isn't slipping up in his game ... but also that he isn't a broken reccord either =)
JBern replied:
I don't like the idiot Dumbledore that many portray. He should be up to something. I hope the story continues to impress you.~Jim

Oh, one more thing.
Grudge sex with Hermoine. Heh.
Sweet. VERY sweet.

. . . "Wondering what kind of educational system would produce Kwan . . " SECOND!
There HAS to be a story there. Nice job. Another miscalculation by Harry and DD causing more chaos. DD is really maxing out the account with Harry, isn't he?
JBern replied:
I'm sure there is a story there, but this isn't the place to tell it. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.~Jim

I read this last night, too late to review. Now on a break.
Very much in the character of Harry you've developed from a post-OotP starting point. I like his snarkiness with Dumbledore. Doing it before the school body was brill.
Hermione is easier to understand, but still deserves what she's getting. I do hope you make more of her actions compulsions from the potions, etc. (I just don't like it when Hermione's 'bad' in anyway. Ginny - have at her.)
Remus had it coming the second he said that he'd have done it all the same way even if he knew harry didn't know.
I can't wait for Bill to make it out of "recovery" so they can start screwing with Dumbledore's master plans.
Cheers!
JBern replied:
Glad you approve! Next chapter in a few weeks. Sorry that I probably won't be too charitable to Ms. Granger, but what can you do?
Regards~Jim

Excellent. And Harry's still being screwed over by Dumbledore. I look forward to his take down; hopefully somewhere public where he can't talk his way out of it. The wizengamout after sucking on veritaserum laced lemon drops?
Poor Remus.
Great story, looking forward to more!
Tom A.
JBern replied:
I wouldn't necessarily say poor Remus. He's Dumbledore's man through and through. Sorry, I just like saying that. Glad you liked the chapter next one in 2 weeks.~Jim

Hmmmm.... a bit short chapter, grudge sex .... harry/petunia ....... gonna have nightmares about that ... confrontation not as climatic as expected. hoping for a rematch later.
JBern replied:
The chapter was 5200 worlds. It's a decent length. Sorry about the Harry/Petunia visions haunting you. Actually, not really... The confrontation is ongoing and must be put on the back burner to simmer.~Jim

poor luna... though i look forward to whatever solution you do come up with... what happens if a polyjuiced harry and hermoine do it... how will that affect the wards??? just a thought...
and, whilst i generally do like hermione, this one is stupid and idiotic... and needs to be put down... i really do hope that harry doesn't start talking to her, let alone forgive her...
otherwise, very true... twisted indeed...
and i see dumbles is still winning here.. but that is to be expected.. for the time being anyway.. harry is young and learning.... a little more practice at the ministry... and harry will learn the tricks of the trade....
JBern replied:
It's an interesting thought. Harry will certainly be looking for ways around the oath. As for Dumbledore still winning, stick around for the rematches.
Many confuse Hermione's 'brains' with real life experience. Sometimes the most intelligent are the ones who are easiest to take advantage of.~Jim

>>On the other side of that door are various people who used to call your friends.<<
maybe "people who used to call you a friend" or "people you used to call friends"?
>>Only during school assemblies to the doors get shut.<<
maybe "do the doors get shut"?
LOL troll in the castle joke.
>>from the wizard a nation of Brazil.<<
maybe "the wizarding nation"?
>>you would mind taking her in your arms wringing her scrawny little neck<<
maybe "... and wringing"?
>>if rumors are to be believed you, <<
maybe a comma between "believed" and "you"?

maybe "Your senses"?

There are times when I hate that old man. Maybe we should get Hermione to drink a love potion - that should work...

Man, Albus is just so wrapped up in his own views of what's the greater good and not, I'm surprised he remembers to dress in the mrning. Hermione, I feel a bit sorry for her, she seems to have started out with good intentions, and got lost, but Albus was pushing her hard it seems. Looking forward to what happens in the trophy room, and the aftermath, and whether Harry and Hermione will do take the hard quick way to charge the wards.
JBern replied:
Well, you know what they say about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. Next chapter coming soon.~Jim

Another fine chapter. I won't add to the other observations regarding how to overcome the wards, though some were quite inventive. Instead, I wonder about the drain that the ward structure imposes on Harry. Does the drain weaken him so that he is unable to combat his enemies? Using the "muscle" analogy that is so prevalent, does it make his magic "stronger"? Would having intercourse with Hermione offset the drain or increase it? As for Hermione, someone should have admonished her to be careful what she wished for! I always sort of liked Canon Hermione until she derailed in book 6; yours has seemingly fewer brains but more ambition. Clearly, not a good combination, but neither she nor Harry seem to have the experience to deal with your Dumbledore's intrigues. Still, a terrific chapter.
JBern replied:
They are rather inventive aren't they? He felt a drain initially, but it won't be much more of a drain than he felt when he was at #4. Hermione is quite smart, but inexperienced and rather trusting of the authority figures. Glad you liked it.~Jim

Does Voldemort know that they know, or does just the piece of soul in the horcrux itself know?
Brilliant.
I ´m not to fond of the forced funbags fraternicing. Hope you find a way to resolve that, that doesn ´t creep me out.
JBern replied:
There'll be a way to resolve it, you'll just have to wait and see if it creeps you out. Same goes for the Horcrux. Sorry, no tipping of the hand.~Jim

A fine chapter in your continuing saga. Your Dumbledore is really a right bastard. I hope Harry rips his heart out in the end. Thanks for writing. W.

Twisted doesn't even start to define how warped Dumbledore is! What was he thinking about what he did to Hermione? I know... It's all for the 'greater good'
Thanks for another great chapter.
I look forward to the next one.

JBern replied:
Well he was thinking that Harry would spend time in the company of a person that he is very fond of and the wards of Hogwarts would be strengthened against Lord Voldemort. It was a good plan, he just didn't count on the Weasleys...

There are a lot of ways Harry can get out of it.
1) He didnt say when he would protect the castle ,so he could protect it to the best of his ability in say 100 years.
2) He could swear a magical oath to always hate Granger, then he cant love her to the best of his ability.
3) Granger having to be alive is a flaw in the wards, that could be prevented by recasting them.
4) Leaving the castle will draw Volde to him, which would protect the castle.
5) Did he even say which castle and what students? Im sure he could buy a nice castle somewhere and protect that.
6) Isnt Malfoy and Snape a threat to the castle, so doesnt he have to kill them? Which would get him expelled so he doesnt have to stay?
7) Force Dumbledore to break his oath or Harry will throw Lupin to the wolves. (Sorry couldnt resist)
And so on...
Dumbledore is a jerk, he shouldnt be allowed near students. Wait thats a threat to the castle.....
Really all Dumbledore has done is give Harry a get out of jail free card, that and a new play toy to keep his bed warm. Its always the quiet ones....
I dont get how these blood wards work, does Harry have to be near her or does he have to have feelings for her?
He is never going to care for her again and will be near her in class.
Cant someone else take the potion so there are three Potters?
Harry has Demon blood in him (and we all know how trusty they are), if anyone should be allowed to get out of oaths it should be him.
JBern replied:
You're an inventive one, aren't you? You'll have to wait and see what Harry does with his oath. We'll see what options Bill has for him when he wakes up. Next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim
