Hmmm...that oath still leaves a lot more wiggle room for Harry than you seem to want to communicate. Wards can always be changed, and I'd think that a stressed and forced relationship would not meet the purpose/rules of the wards. Of course, I believed the old Blood wards from canon wouldn't meet the rules of the wards either.
If I'm missing something, I'd love to be corrected. A great story, an a great continuation of Bungle in the Jungle.

Chapter 4 will deal with Harry's efforts to get around the oath. Glad you liked it. Next chapter in 2 weeks.~Jim

Ouch, just back and already being screwed over by Dumbledore...and now being forced to be the boyfriend of Hermione, who he hates. Dumbledore really is a bastard, ain't he? And that line about Harry and Petunia...I can't wait for the next part, and I also can't wait for Dumbledore to receive what he deserves.
JBern replied:
Glad you liked it. Dumbledore is a nice guy. They wouldn't put him on a chocolate frog card if he wasn't, would they?~Jim

Dang! I hate it that Dumbledore got the upper hand and Harry. I hope Harry and Bill comes up with a way out of it.
JBern replied:
Chapter 4 will be concerned with Harry's efforts to use the oath to his advantage. Chapter 3 will be a bit busy with the minor problem of a horcrux.~Jim

poor Hermione - loses her integrity and gets her nose rubbed - and then finds out her idol has sold her out.
thanks for your great stories

Yo, Jim. Very twisted.
"There’s a good chance the shit in his arse doesn’t know what his sphincter is up to until it’s too late." Now that's a line!
Let's see. Thought this chapter was mostly good. The interactions between Kwan, Hack and Harry. And Hack vs. Fawkes. The little twist Dumbledore put on Harry's oath - nicely inventive. Hermione/Harry .... shudder!
But, you've spoiled me with TFTCD, where Dumbledore and Voldemort have depth and are believable. Here they both feel like 2D cartoon characters. The scene with the student body felt far too forced. The best part there was Kwan verbally slapping Harry over his posturing.
Glad you're really going to finish TFTCD - I've been most eagerly awaiting your version of a literary bloodbath - at the end of a bad week a symbolic release like that makes corporate America easier to take. :)
Keep writing.

Voldy hasn't even shown up yet. How can he be 2D? Sorry you didn't like the scene in the Great Hall, bu that's the way the cookie crumbles. Can't please all the people all the time and all that.
TFtCD chapter 39 has just come back from edititng and will be out sometime this weekend.~Jim

Excellent chapter! I just love getting updates from you.
This had a fab balance of infighting, dirty politics, manipulation and distrust. I loved Harry offering to screw Hermione in the interests of castle security! When is that girl going to wake up and smell the fertilizer?
JBern replied:
She's a very smart girl, but she isn't very experienced. Some of that blind trust has now been erased. After all, why is it always just Harry getting used for the common good.~Jim

Hmmm... the first thing that comes to mind is that if Dumbledore could do this, why couldn't he have done something similar so Harry didn't have to live with the Dursleys?
My second thought is that Luna is going to be very unhappy about this.
A wonderful chapter, as always. Looking forward to the next chapter in this and all your other fics.
JBern replied:
It wasn't necessary until Voldemort returned. Harry was perfectly fine with his relatives. (At least from Dumbledore's perspective). Now with the DE's acting in the open, he needs to do what he can to protect the students of Hogwarts. He tried to minimize it's impact on Harry's life, but he didn't count on Molly Weasley.
I can't see Luna (or Harry or Hermione for that matter being too pleased). Next chapter of this in 2 weeks. CH 39 of Darkness sometime this weekend.~Jim

If I were a crass person, I'd say that Harry should have off'ed Hermione and let the wards fall. Oops...or maybe let Luna do the honors. But I expect this is but part 1 of many, many confrontations with Dumbledore. I hope you have a wonderful way to kill him off by the end of this storyline. He's trickier and more awful than any goblin you wrote about in Bungle... Maybe Dumbledore will conjure up a demon next 'for the greater good' of Hogwarts, before Dumbledore stashes his own horcrux inside it...
I'm excited to see what you've cooked up for the Trophy Room battle...perhaps Ron gets whacked in the head with the Quidditch Cup and becomes a decent person afterwards? Nah, couldn't happen.
Lots of place to take this. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next bits.
JBern replied:
He can't protecting her protects the wards protects the students. Killing her doesn't. You are correct. There will be many confrontations.~Jim

Twisted? Very. Very good though. But will the blood ward issues be broken? After the Horcrux can we get Bill threatening an newly injured Dumbles in the hospital wing?
Very much looking forward to next TFTCD chap

BWAHAHAHAHA!
Yet another amazing Dumblescrewing!
Fantastic use of hermione as the 'crux' of the matter, and what an amazing discovery that the doddering old fool could actually consider a tryst with Petunia an interesting idea.
Glad to see that good old moldie voldie has outsmarted dumbles. Makes me want the next chapter even more!

Excellent chapter. Hermione let the Headmaster screw her figuratively, Ginny screw her figuratively, the Headmaster go for a second through fourth round (at least), screwing her figuratively, and now she has to decide if she will solve problems quicker by letting Harry screw her literally. Wow, things get messed up when you practice hurting your friends. Good intentions and all that. She should try being honest at least with herself one of these days.
One possible correction I found:
Should the following say 'wizarding nation of Brazil'?
The man you see before you is indeed your former classmate and now the junior ambassador from the wizard a nation of Brazil.
Thank you for sharing the fruits of your skill and effort with us.

I do believe the best way to protect the school would be to remove Albus Dumbledore (permanently) and make Flitwick or McGonnagal or Sprout (or even Snape, if it means he can juggle things with Voldy) the Head. That fulfills the Oath, then maybe some way of transferring the wards to a non-living anchor...
JBern replied:
There will be several things that Harry ponders in chapter 4 about the oath. Chapter 3 will be a bit busy with a minor horcrux problem.~Jim

nice chapter. though i'd love to see an omake where harry either pranks ol' dumbles or just outright curse the old man, under the pretext of 'doing his best to protect the school'. i mean....it would stick, seeing as dumbles is using the school and innocent students in his manipulations.
JBern replied:
No omakes. Sorry. I don't have the time. You'll just have to see what happens in the storyline. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Next one coming in 2 weeks.~Jim

I have to admit that the line "Fate has handed you a size changing demi-human with hygiene problems, gutter humor, and a willingness to put the wood to every female troll who wanders into his line of sight. Ironically, you wouldn’t trade him for a dragon — he’s just that cool."
Makes me laugh every single time.
