Awesome.....The story keeps getting more interesting by the chapter, the action and drama are equally intense. However for a dueling champ like James to struggle against Fleur was a bit unbelievable. One who has played and won on a professional circuit should be able to overcome school students easily. Also Hat had riled up Fleur who already underestimated HJ and aimed to dismiss him under a minute. So she would be prone to mistakes in that particular frame of mind.

My rantings aside, it is truly a magnificent story and you are a great author. I have enjoyed all your works so far and pray you will stay inspired to write much more for a long time...

He was stuck to the ground and if you read it again, you'll notice that Fleur didn't really presetnt much of a problem.   Go to the forums section and you can see the Harry versus Cedric duel.~Jim

Very nice. I think you must read as much fanfiction as you can just so you know what to do the exact opposite in this fic.

JBern replied:

I used to, but now I spend so much time on my writing that I barely have time to read anymore.~Jim

Just focus on the book and the rest of us will just have to wait. All I ask is that you let our faithful readers know the essential details of said book so that we can at the very least look for it.

Now that being said, I originally thought I wouldn't like this story. I am so very glad that I have stuck with it. It is great and a true original idea. Good luck with the book.

JBern replied:

The details are on the jbern page under my news articles.   It has information on all of my original writings.   Glad you like this story.   Next update in 10 days.~Jim

Thanks again for writing and sharing with us. I appreciate it.

Great chapter.
Pity, the Greater Punishment has been over ruled.

JBern replied:

Yeah, it's a shame, but the duel would've never happened.~Jim

I want Draco Flogged, tarred and feathered...or take some money from lucy...or both...wait...let me read the chapter again.

JBern replied:

Tarred and feathered?   I should have added that one...   Well who is to say that HJ can't launch his own bit of revenge.~Jim

After a night's sleep I re-read the chapter. And retract my previous attempt to be helpful. Separate platforms. First paragraph. Got it.

Unfortunately I can see reasons for having a blanket disqualification rule. It would have been created to discourage such things as fixing bets or attempting to cast aspersions on the opponent.

Which doesn't take away the suckiness of the way HJ was forfeited. Also, if I didn't say it before, entertaining by-play between the Hat, Albus and the former death eaters. Quite interesting.

In actuality HJ did win the duel and Fleur knows it, but I can't really see him enforcing such a stupid infantile bet on someone. It's a waste of his time.

Besides, being magnanimous may perk up Fleur's interest. :)

Later,

Doug

JBern replied:

Yeah, it sucks, but HJ isn't too busted up about it.   That said, he's reaching the end of his paitience with people.

Expect some payback...

Out of curiosity, what name is "Dead Eye" going to be published under? (I'm thinking of picking up a copy once it's out, but not certain who to look for).

By the way, great work as always on the fic; I especially like the twist about the cheating on the competition, as I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually caught/punished for tweaking the rules in their favor! Will the little maggot (Hat's words) get what he richly deserves? (*hopeful look* *puts down can of oil and cat-o-nine-tails*) Nope, I'm not bloodthirsty! *lol*

Anyways, I hope your book is every bit successful as you want it to be (stupid platonic insert over)

Good luck

JBern replied:

Jim Bernheimer and John Cornell.   Trust me, you'll have a hard time getting me to shut me up about the book when it comes out.

Glad you liked the idea of someone actually getting caught cheating for a change.   Next chapter in 10 days.~Jim

A short review then.
As usual, brilliant, and the frustration shines brightly. I'm a bit curious about the side bet, though. Fleur won the contest, but HJ won the duel. One for the judges, i think.
Go on. Get published.

JBern replied:

The bet will be covered next chapter.   There's a tease of 12 in the forums here and on DLP.~Jim

Best of luck in your RL work!

Very nice chapter, though I agree with the people who think that little Dray-dray got off too easily. One has to wonder, however, if there will be consequences within Hogwarts for Draco's cheating, other than what the Goblet does. Are the other three houses going to unite against the little idiot who cost their school a win against the french? Is Slytherin so badly against HJ that they will be happy that Draco sabotaged him even when it screws over Hogwarts?

I can't wait for the next chapter!

JBern replied:

Lie 12 will  be out in about 10 days.   You have a good point about the relations within the other houses.~Jim

An excellent chapter as always. I'm curious as to how the bet is going to be handled now what with Harry winning but having to forfeit. Will they call it a draw? As for Malfoy, your mention of the Cur's Mark gives me hope. Love to read where that was the punishment.

Your redition of Harry is one of the most interesting ones I've had the pleasure to read.

Thank you again for posting your tales.

JBern replied:

Maybe you'll get to break out that branding iron...

Thanks again.   Have a fun but busy tax season...~Jim
