Hi, Jim,
I read in a reply to another, that the 6 contestants were trapped and no one else. This didn't quite make sense to me... The ones who dropped out have to sit on stage still? That sucks. Not even a little Hershey's kiss waiting for them back at the chairs? Would a dementor like to eat some?
So I thought some champions would be out, and that Hagrid at least would be in. He did jump up on stage....
Anyhow, I hope there's an explanation to how that happened included in the next chap.
Anyhow, as I said before, great stuff.
Peace-
-Rijl
JBern replied:
Yes they had to return to their chairs. Perhaps I'll have some chocolate waiting for him.
Explanations will be forthcoming.~Jim

I had some people saying that the end of chapter 12 was a cliffhanger. I felt the need to educate them on what a cliffhanger actually is.

Aww man, you're killing me! I'm gripping me mouse in horror and then you go and tell me I have to wait for the next chapter!??
JBern replied:
Let the mouse go. Your hand will cramp. Good things come to those who wait.~Jim

Thanks for the great chapter. I do hope you will illuminate Hagrids mental processes for us. W.

I don't usually complain about cliffhangers, but that one was a bitch.
JBern replied:
I don't recall any female dogs or wolves in the final scene. :-)
Next chapter coming soon.~Jim

Ref your reply to my April 19 comment:
As I see it, you owe us nothing, not a reply and certainly not an apology for a delayed reply. You're putting a lot of work into writing novels for our entertainment, asking nothing but the occasional review or praise. So:
Thank you very much. I'm enjoying The Lie I've Lived greatly. I check your site only when I've got some time in the evening, because I know that when a new chapter comes out I won't do anything else until I've read it twice through.
JBern replied:
Still, I take pride in answering my reviews in a timely method. I hope to be a very approachable author in the sense that if you take the time to review, I will do my best to reply. Shamelessly, I intend to cultivate a fanbase that carries over to when I am writing original fiction. One way to do that is by replying to reviews and letting the readers know that I do appreciate their kind (except for this chapter - I'm getting roasted here but in a good way) words. :-)
Thanks for this review and the next chapter of TML should be out in roughly 10 days and Lie 14 by the end of the month.~Jim

Awesome man, superb :D I must admit, I do love cliffhangers :D
Once knew an author that ended every single chapter 'cept the first and last of her stories with a cliffy - one of the best damn stories I ever read :)
A good cliffhanger is an awesome idea :D
"Make 'em cry, make 'em laugh and make 'em wait - exactly in that order"
JBern replied:
I try to space out my cliffhangers and use them for effect. This one seems to have generated the desired effect quite well. Glad you enjoyed it. TML 7 is up next, but I'll be back to this one shortly.~Jim

Nice one HJ, shagging a seventh year. Loved the conversation with Sirius.
Loved the Hat's crudity.
I liked the scene with Ron. Good on him trying to do the right thing.
Loved the lead-up to the challenge. I say ten to one it wasn't Hagrid. Polyjuice, I imagine.
Excellent chapter overall but damn you for the cliffhanger. Next chapter better be out by the end of the month like you say; too many authors have just disappeared.
JBern replied:
Not going anywhere. Unless my wife goes into early labor, expect the chapter as promised. Thanks for the review.~Jim
